Dr. R. asks:

Plastic EndoI finish off all my endo instrumentation with an ultrasonic cleansing of the canal space. This always entails a lot of time and equipment. I am convinced that this is an essential part of the process. The research has shown that ultrasonic produces a cleaner canal.

However, I would like to try the Plastic Endo file. This is supposed to replace the ultrasonics. But I am concerned about how thorough a job it does. I am also concerned about breaking off a plast file in the canal. Has anbody tried this product yet? What has your experience been?

Till which depth will the ultrasonic clean? Till with depth will the plastic file clean? bacteria will enter the tubuli for 1100 nm! To clean my rootcanals till this depth I switch to the 810 nm diodelaser or the Nd-yag laser. These results are very impressive! Better then ultrasonic and i think also the plastic file 9 this one you can only use onetime!)

Can’t speak for the plastic file but the piezo ems tip i use on the scaler attached to my unit gets canals squeaky clean. it can pretty well reach as far as you can place a 25 file. it takes my assistant 10 seconds to set it up.the tip looks like a #20 silver point, and it cleans like a pressure washer. jmho

I would never use this product as I have not seen any scientific evidence is it’s superiority past being an expensive 1-use device.
