Dr. S. asks:
It seems like all the endodontists and general practitioners in my area are using warm gutta-percha fills. For some reason, Thermafil [Tulsa Dental] is not being used much. The endodontists are telling us that it is really technique sensitive and if you do not do it exactly right, what happens is that you end up with a bare plastic tip at the apical constriction which fails to obturate. Most practitioners are not instrumenting the canal wide enough so when they go to fill, the gutta-percha is stripped off the carrier. I have been using conventional stainless steel files forming a classical ste-back funnel preparation. I then fill with a carrier two sizes smaller than my master apical file. Works great for me. Anybody else doing this?

    Dear Dr S, hello
Try to flare the canal wide enough to insert a Protaper verifier; cut the selected thermafil obturator 1mm shorter than the working lenght and enjoy the filling results.
I am a satisfied Protaper user
    Hope it hepls
