PTFE sutures, with reverse cutting needles, are the ideal non-resorbable sutures for many dental implant surgical procedures, where the usage of a monofilament suture with low bacterial adhesion is recommended. Other non-resorbable sutures, like silk, are constructed as a multifilament thread, which causes a “wick effect,” i.e. bacteria and fluids are pulled tino the wound site.
