Which membrane materials are best for each grafting procedure?

col-pocine-20x30mm-pdm2030There are a variety of membrane materials on the market, both resorbable and non-resorbable. How do you choose which membrane material is best for each type of bone grafting procedure? When would you go with a resorbable over a non-resorbable? And for the resorbable collagen membranes, which resorption times are expected for specific procedures, i.e. would 6 to 9 months resorption work for the vast majority of cases? Thanks.

  1. There is no clear answer to this question. The lack of prospective controled studies (RCTs) comparing different types of membranes implies that the indication of different membranes is not clear Case selection, experience and clinical skills are the main drivers of membrane selection. More important than the type of membrane is the exhaustive analysis of the clinical situation There is no miraculous membrane

  2. Advanced PRF usually a good choice to use with, or without collagen, amnionic, pericardium, etc.
Cheap regenerative medicine, almost an oxymoron.
