Fractured Screw Kit Instructions

Below are instructions for our Fractured Screw Removal Kit along with a compatibility guide. This kit helps you remove a fractured or broken screw and save the implant.

Broken Screw Removal

  • Helps To Remove Broken Screws Without Damaging The Implant
  • Includes Centering Guides To Fit Any Implant System

:warning: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Indications: The fractured screw kit is primarily indicated when the broken screw is fractured in the apical 50% of the implant chamber. In other types of fractures, other instruments maybe needed to remove the fractured screw. Various methods are covered in this article (Our kit is featured as option 3, under the Salvin Implant Rescue Kit, which is simply the same exact thing as our Fractured Screw Kit and Implant Removal Kit combined in one kit).

Tap and Drill Care: In addition, please note that the tap and drill that are included with the kit, are very thin, as they need to be to retrieve the broken screw. As such, they may break if used incorrectly, and will need to be replaced after multiple uses. The tap drill especially is prone to break when too much pressure is applied. The tap drill must be used with very low speed 15-30rpm and not too much vertical pressure at all. If you use too much torque, and apply too much pressure, the tap drill can break. Replacement Tap Drills can be purchased on our website at: Tap Drills.

Kit Cleaning

Needs to be cleaned and thoroughly dried before sterilized. Should be washed with a non-corrosive, low sudsing neutral detergent. Cleaning can be accomplished by ultrasonic or automated cleaning, which is preferred to minimize the opportunity of sharps injuries due to hand scrubbing. Manufacturer does not suggest the use of any abrasive brushes or materials to clean.

Kit Sterilization - Steam Autoclave

  • 15 Minutes At 273 ̊F / 134 ̊C (15psi)
  • Use Of Hard Water May Leave Deposits
  • Do Not Use Closed Containers
  • Dry at Least 10 Minutes

Fractured Screw Drill Guide Compatibility Information

To use the fractured screw removal took kit, you need to place guides on the implants. The fractured screw removal tool kit comes with 6 standard guides to fit popular implant systems. The exact systems the guides are compatible with is detailed below. In addition, you can purchase 7 other types of guides that fit with other implant systems, also detailed below. The price of additional screw removal guides is $75 per guide.

Why do you need the implant guides?

The guides protect the internal aspect of the implant body from the damaging effects of drills touching the threaded internal surface. The guide abutment system also allows the initial drill and the reverse tip to be positioned in the center of the broken screw.

Guides are ONLY compatible with Specific Implant Systems (Brand/Type)

The Guides are manufactured to fit specific implants. If you don’t have the correct Guide for a particular implant system, the kit will not work, and you may damage the implant. As there are many different kinds of implant systems, the manufacturer can’t make a guide for every single implant system.
