There is no difference whatsoever between Ora-Aid and Augma Shield. Augma Shield is simply a private label version of Ora-Aid marketed by Augma Biomaterials.

AugmaShield is composed of two layers: a protection layer and an attachment layer. When the attachment layer dissolves completely with the moisture and saliva in the mouth, the protection layer will fall off automatically. There is no need to remove the protection layer by force unless the protection layer is sutured onto the site.

AugmaShield is a wound dressing adhesive band made of polymer containing two layers. The outer layer is protective and the inner layer turns into an adhesive gel when it comes into contact with blood, saliva, or water. The adhesive layer lasts up to 6 hours. If you want the protective layer for a longer duration, you must secure AugmaShield in place using sutures and follow the suture protocol. When suturing AugmaShield, you should NOT suture the dressing material directly. Instead, secure the patch with a cross horizontal mattress suture over the material. If AugmaShield does not stick well or falls off too quickly, it is usually because it was attached incorrectly. First cut it into the proper shape and size for the wound. Although some moisture is required, too much moisture will reduce adhesion, so excessive moisture should be removed with gauze. Place AugmaShield on the wound and press for 5 to 10 seconds to create strong adhesion. It is recommended to attach AugmaShield to hard tissue, since attaching only to soft tissue may cause it to detach due to muscle movement.

In general, AugmaShield adheres for approximately 6 hours, although the exact time depends on the area of attachment and specific circumstances.
