Questions About Split Master: Ridge Splitting Combo Kit

Can I use the bone expander drills with my handpiece and at what speed?

Yes. The bone expanders and the saws are compatible with latch-type handpieces. The kit comes with a handpiece adaptor which is attached to the latch-type handpiece for use with the bone expander drills. The recommended speed is 15-20 RPM. We should note, though, that even though you can use the handpiece with the bone expander drills, it is more common to use the ratchet wrench to drive the expanders in, as opposed to handpiece.

Bond Expander Kit

Bone expander drills are an alternative to osteotomes for the expansion and condensing of the atrophic mandible and maxilla in preparation for dental implant insertions.

Expanders are also an alternative to the maxillary sinus elevation technique. Expanders are driven into the bone with a ratchet wrench or low speed hand piece. This decreases the surgical trauma of osteotomes. Bone expanders (2.3, 2.7, 3.1, 3.5, 4.3 and 5.1mm) improve the clinical success by improving stability, maintaining bone density and increasing fixation. Each screw had 4 score marking at 10mm, 8mm, 6mm and 4mm.
