Osteogen Bone Block Graft for Ridge Augmentation
This video shows the use of the new Osteogen Malleable Bone Block for ridge augmentation. The Osteogen Bone Block infuses bone graft into collagen to create a malleable block that eliminates the hassle of particulate and the graft washout. Aside from the product, the video demonstrates a few interesting techniques. Firstly, the block is hydrated with PRF liquid, to create sticky bone (see PRF Sticky Collagen Plugs for another video and discussion of this concept). Furthermore, bone decortication is used prior to grafting enhance the guided bone regeneration. The basis for bone decortication is to improve access for progenitor cells to the site and increase angiogenesis [1]. Finally, the augmentation procedure was enhanced thru the use of the tenting technique (see Tenting Screw Kit) . Tenting maintains space and minimizes resorption of the graft [2,3] . We should also note that in the video the block graft is covered with a PRF membrane. Of course, the type of membrane used in each situation is up to the decision of each clinician, and specific to the case. However, it is recommended to use a standard collagen membrane with this block.
